Inside The Regency Café: London’s No-Frills Breakfast Spot

Where is it?

Tucked away on a quiet street in Pimlico, The Regency Café has built a reputation as one of London’s best spots for a proper full English. Since opening in 1946, it’s attracted locals, film crews, and curious visitors alike.

There’s usually a line outside. Inside, you’ll hear orders shouted from the counter and the clatter of cutlery. The pace is fast, the service is efficient, and the atmosphere hasn’t changed much in decades. It’s part of the charm.

The Food

The menu sticks to the classics—full English breakfasts with bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and more. It’s generous, no-frills, and exactly what you’d expect. The food may not arrive in the order you thought it would, but it gets there, and it does the job.

On Screen

The café has appeared in several films and TV shows. You might recognise it from Layer Cake, Brighton Rock, Rocketman, or the BBC’s London Spy. Its distinctive black-and-white exterior and unfussy interior make it ideal for period scenes.

My illustration of The Regency Café is available in my shop. It’s part of my London collection—celebrating well-known local spots that have managed to stay the same in a city that rarely does.
